Cultural note: pierogi Pierogi is a popular dish in Central and Eastern European cuisine. Pierogi are small dumplings, made from dough which has been boiled or fried in fat and stuffed with various fillings, such as meat, cabbage with mushrooms or potato and onion. Pierogi can also be served sweet with cottage cheese or fruit, and covered in thick cream.
